As if 81 mph winds and multiple trees down wasn’t enough, less than a week later we got hit by winter’s last gasp. After enduring the longest stretch of temperatures below freezing, mother nature decided to hit us with 20+ inches of snow. Our girls seem to have weathered the storm well and initial indications are that we haven’t lost any additional hives. The girls are still able to get out to clear out their dead and take cleansing flights. it’s saddening to see them on the snow but it’s a reassuring sign of activity inside the hive.
The end of this week is going to bring warmer temperatures and hopefully a respite for the girls from this weather. We hope to start seeing more blooms as March draws to a close to help the girls start rebuilding their stores. |
